Top 5 Books of 2016

I have read a total of 25 books this year which is not much but out of those 25 it was difficult for me to pick the top 5 books I've read in 2016. Here's what I choose (in no particular ranking order):

1. Illuminae (Illuminae Files #1) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

By the very end of this book I was gushing in tears from all the feels. Amazing graphics. A fast paced read with all tons of spacey action.

2. Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1) by Sarah J. Maas

Badass female assassin protagonist. Very snarky. Also magic. A little bit of romance and a flavor of revenge.

3. Undertow (Undertow #1) by K.R. Conway

This series is a gem not yet known by most. Features Soul-eating (sexy might I add) men sworn to protect the protagonist of the story. Also based in Cape Cod, my local area. (I feel the patriotism).

4. This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

First time I experienced the beauty that is Schwab's work. A city full of monsters. And a boy who will play you a song and steal your soul.

5. 1984 by George Orwell

Great classic. Super dark. Big Brother is watching you always. Thought Police. Even if you aren't into classics you will enjoy this one

To wrap it up I've read a few gems this year but I've realized they are mostly YA Fantasy novels. This year I'll be reaching out to other genres. Have good book recommendations? Leave a comment.
